Chile… Let’s talk about LENT.

A Picture Worth a THOUSAND words.

Everything thing you need to know about my last 40 day fast is pretty much summed up in this picture.

I fast whenever I feel like I need it. I don’t wait for Lent or for somebody to tell me to do it. I know it takes twenty-one (21) days to make or break a habit. Every two weeks … (or so…) I make it a point to cleanse my body of everything I know should not be in it. (Cough… sweets and wine….) Since late last year, my anxiety has been through the roof, like most attorneys I know. I did a 40-day fast to get it back on track. It worked… maybe too good some would say… LOL!

MIND YOU... I get to church on Sunday … and guess what? It’s Lent … for real… starting on Wednesday. So of course… another 40 days was requested. SMH.

This is what happens when you watch 3 different churches in 3 different states … daily. CLEARLY Somebody is not on the Zoom.

Don’t FAST without REST.

I don’t usually announce when I’m fasting or what I’m giving up because I think it is a personal thing between me and God. Over the last 40 days, I focused on healing physically, holistically. I’m particular about understanding my body from the inside out. That happens to be hard to do when you don’t sleep as often as you should. I wear ALOT of hats. The last time I got 8 hours of sleep was before I became a Mom. I did not know any moms that got 8 FULL hours of rest on a daily basis. That is not healthy for any of us, so… I have been making it a point to be more adamant about making sure I get sleep. Good Sleep… still working on it. BUT… I am getting SLEEP thanks to these Magnesium gummies. I also tried these sleep gummies and they work great, also. See Disclaimer above.

The UN-FUN Part of My Self-Imposed Fast.

I gave up wine. NOW THAT…. definitely harder than I thought with the state of things. I don’t drink 1/2 as much as I used to, so I didn’t assume it would be difficult. I did, however, run into MANY events in which a craft cocktail was needed… stat. But, I didn’t fold. To me, that is the important part.

Lucky for you… I can get you through the real Lent season with a few alternatives, if you choose to give up wine or drinking for Lent.

How I Stayed Sane.

I won’t bore you with the never ending details of this very ghetto and unhinged stage of life, pre-40. Nonetheless, I am more than happy to share how I stayed sane. I was NOT always nice, but I said I would do a thing, and I did it using 2 to 3 of these things as substitutes, daily:

  1. Finding Non-Alcohol Alternatives.
  2. Coloring.
  3. Reading.
  4. Music.
  5. Fashion.
  6. Laughing.

Tis all, Love.
